Welcome to the 19th FIFA World Cup
countdown
FIFA soccer world cup draw took place in Cape Town South Africa on December 4th. All participating teams (32 of them) know who they will face in the first round, for some this is good news and for others this is not so good news. Some fear the "Group of Death", which is the hardest group, with the toughest teams. Regardless of seeding, the soccer fiesta is on its way in South Africa next summer. Join me for a full month of celebration (from June 11 to July 11). Opening game will be between the host country South Africa and Mexico.
Whether you have never played the game of soccer or watched it before, this will be a good opportunity to get acquainted to what is: the biggest sport event of the world, and the most beautiful game ever played. This is it, if you miss this opportunity, you will wait four more years. Start thinking of your favorite sport bar, or wherever you will be, the excitement will be the same. Start shopping for your favorite team jersey; be proud of the colors you will be wearing.
Even though in the world of sport there are always the favorites and the underdogs; but until the final whistle blows in soccer, the ball weighs the same for everyone. I know game prognostics are current among fans, but upsets and disappointments are also part of the game. Nations will be celebrating, and nations will be mourning, as it has always been the case in soccer world cup.
Of the last 18 world cup tournaments played so far, only 7 nations have won the trophy: Brazil (5), Italy (4), Germany (3), Argentina (2), Uruguay (2), England (1), and France (1). These teams nevertheless will remain the favorites. The questions most people ask: will a new country get added to the list?
